I came across this website: http://discount-shopping.mommysavesbig.com and all I can say is Wow! I am a big discount shopper, and this site has info on retailer coupons, bargains & deals, mail in rebates, free sample offers, and much much more!

Beware of the Online Coupon Scams. (Especially during this July 4th Weekend)

A few months ago, I started receiving several emails with the subject, "Get your Wal-Mart $500 coupon." Well, if you have ever received one of these emails and opened it, then you've seen what I've seen. The email was from some guy named Bob who was trying to sell me a product in which neither he or his product had any affiliation with Wal-Mart whatsoever.

Anyway, I came across this article, and after reading it, I think I’ll stick with doing my online shopping with the Shopping Genie. No coupons, no special codes, no guys named Bill. Just everyday items (even high end) at really cheap prices, without the gimmicks.

Many retailers are holding blockbuster sales the weekend of July 4 – and coupons found online can lead to bigger discounts of up to 50 percent off at popular stores. But these seemingly good deals may cost consumers more than they bargained for.

Online shopper Nancy Lombardo thinks one appeal of electronic coupons is their simplicity. "It's so easy to find them," Lombardo said. "I can type in what I'm looking for specifically." Lombardo was recently scammed by a Web site claiming to offer extra coupon savings.

She was shopping online when a pop-up advertisement appeared on her screen, offering a significant discount on an item she was looking to purchase. The ad claimed all she had to do was fill out a form with some of her personal information – including a credit card number.

Lombardo didn't even think twice. "(I thought) this seems like everything else I fill out, so I did it," Lombardo said. Lombardo failed to realize that she signed herself up with a fraudulent company, and unknown charges soon began appearing on her credit card each month.

Consumer experts, such as Michelle Corey of the Better Business Bureau, believe this type of fraud is occurring more frequently on the Internet. "They may be asking a series of questions in order to obtain some of their free coupons, but these questions could be setting you up to steal your identity," Corey said. "Some pop up ads may also be trying to keep your attention while they're downloading spyware to your computer system. Others may be downloading a virus."

The BBB also reminded customers never to pay for coupons found online. Corey added that consumers should not always trust coupons they get via e-mail, as the BBB has found a string of fakes is currently finding its way into inboxes everywhere.

"Sometimes they look very realistic," Corey said. "They actually have the logo, but it doesn't make it real though."

Shoppers should always look to see whether an online coupon is being offered directly by a store or by a third-party, as the latter often asks for more personal information. They should also always double check with a store that an online coupon is valid.

Let’s just get to the good stuff. Last week I had to get new tires for my truck. I wanted to keep the same brand that was put on the truck when I bought it new at the beginning of 2006. The original tires were Dunlop 24575R16, Grand Trek. I love the way the truck rides so I was content to replace my worn tires with the same brand.

I used the shopping Genie to find the best prices on the Dunlop tires and it showed:
Discount Tire - $115 per tire
NTB - $115 per tire
Sears - $72.94 per tire

Because I am such a bargain shopper, and I am always looking for the best shopping deals, I checked with three more stores:
Wal-Mart – Doesn’t sell Dunlop
Sam’s Club - $132.00 per tire
Pep Boys – Doesn’t sell Dunlop (I was really hoping they sold Dunlop because they are having a buy 3 get 1 free sale.)

So, can you guess which store I purchased my Dunlop tires from? Yep. Sears! The price of $73.00 per tire was a crazy good deal. If I would have purchased my tires at Sam’s Club (love that place) I would have paid $59.00 more per tire! Instead, I saved anywhere form $42.00 to $59.00 per tire or a total of $168.00 to $236.00 all because I found the deal online with the shopping Genie. Yes or No to the Hoover F5914-900 SteamVac with Clean Surge?

I started doing some online shopping for steam vacuums, and I came across a few carpet cleaner reviews that talked about a specific Hoover steam vacuum. I actually wasn’t looking to buy any type of Hoover steam cleaner, but I kept finding more information about the Hoover F5914-900 SteamVac with Clean Surge.
I will say that several of the reviews, whether Hoover, Bissell, Shark, or Eureka indicated that the “steam” in the steam vacuums is not all it’s cracked up to be. But anyway, I like this one because it seems to provide deep cleaning, and it meets some of my other needs. I found one online for a really really good deal, but I’m just not sure if my expectations will let me be pleased with it once I buy it.

So, here are my expectations I have for whatever steam vacuum I buy:
1. Deep cleaning (I have light colored carpet in high traffic areas.)
2. Doesn’t leave a residue on the carpet. (Even after some professionals cleaned my
carpet and I vacuumed like they said, it still felt like there was some type of
residue on the carpet.)
3. Doesn’t leave carpet soaking wet.
4. Fairly lightweight so I can carry it upstairs easily.
5. Doesn’t need a special detergent. (If I want to use eco-friendly detergents, I
can.)
6. Doesn’t pull/tear the carpet fibers and leave little fuzz balls all over the
place.

I know my list is long, but I like my carpet cleaned a certain way and I don’t want to use professional carpet cleaners anymore. I just want to be able to pull out my steam vacuum and go to work! Although the Hoover F5914-900 SteamVac with Clean Surge is my favorite so far, I think my list is keeping me from buying it or any other steam vacuum cleaner.

I need help. I have family coming for the 4th of July, and I’m getting nervous! I have visions of me being on my hands and knees with a toothbrush if I don’t buy something soon!

Pur ds-1800z 2 stage water dispenser

Every year when I receive my city’s annual Quality Drinking Water Report I am truly fascinated. However, this year I read something that I don’t remember from past reports. They actually treat our water from contaminants that can include microbes, inorganic contaminants, pesticides, herbicides, and radioactive contaminants. OK. Everything before the radioactive contaminants sounds about right, but did they really say radioactive. Are you kidding me?? How did I miss this tid bit of information from the previous reports? That’s crazy! So…after reading this year's annual report and that enlightening information, I started looking for the best water filters I could find, but specifically for home water filters. Any extra protection I can get form radioactive contaminants seems like a good idea!

I did a search for water filter reviews and came across Pur water dispensers, particularly the Pur ds-1800z 2 stage water dispenser. I like this one because I don’t have to leave it on my countertop if I don’t want to. I can fill it up in the sink and put in the fridge to have cold filtered water. I was much more interested in portable water filters and this one fits the bill.

We bought ours over a month ago along with a triple pack of replacement filters and have yet to replace the one that came in the box. Worth your cash! :)”

There were other reviews that were more detailed and gave even better ratings. When I used the Shopping Genie, I found Amazon had the best prices for the home water filtration system I wanted.

Did you know you can hire virtual assistants online? Yep. You can hire someone online to prepare that big presentation you have coming up in a few weeks that you’ve been tearing your hair out about. You can ask he/she to find the office supplies you need at the lowest prices to save on expenses. What about all those emails you receive daily that take about 2 hours to get through. Well, you can forward your emails to your virtual assistant and have he/she respond accordingly! Would you like the assistant to order lunch and have it delivered to you everyday? Just say the word and that can be done as well. Any task that your personal assistant can do can be done by a virtual assistant. So if you’re like me, saving time and money for your business is priority. So, where can you find theses virtual assistants?

Online of course! One site that I really like is Elance.com. You will find several people offering their services in web and programming, admin support, legal, sales and marketing, and much much more. Now, you will have to pay these people, but as you will see, the pay per hour can be very different from one assistant to the next. In my opinion, the best thing about this site is the client feedback. You can read the feedback of other clients who hired that particular assistant, and then determine if that person would be a good match for you.

So, I know you have heard this before, but I'm going to say it again...Let's work smarter and not harder, and I think Elance.com will help you do just that.

Garmin GPS System: Garmin nüvi 760 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Automobile Navigator

Garmin Navigation systems are a must have!

I was meeting a friend in downtown Dallas and I had a good idea where we were to meet, but I did not have the exact directions. Bad, bad, idea. Little did I know that once I reached downtown I was about to spend a little over 30 minutes circling the same one-way streets to find my destination, all the while shaking my fist in the air! I have a pretty decent sense of direction, but downtown anywhere gives me the blues. I had been telling myself that I was going to buy a GPS for the car, but it was never a real priority to buy one until I found my self circling for 30 minutes. So, I went looking for Garmin car GPS systems and I came across the Garmin nüvi 760 4.3-Inch Widescreen Bluetooth Portable GPS Automobile Navigator.
It is so nize! (Nize is nice with a little extra niceness). My 2 favorite things about it: 1. It has Bluetooth Wireless Technology For Hands-Free Calling, and 2. It has a Speed Limit Indicator that displays Speed Limits For Highways & Interstates. It also has a 4.3-Inch Diagonal Touch Screen Color Display and 480 X 272 Pixels, Wqvga Display With White Backlight for all you technical people. It's really just kinda of pretty to me.

Get Crazy Online Shopping Deals?? For those of you who shop online, you may search several sites before finding the product you're searching for at the best price. I feel you! I used to be in the same boat before I found a way to get crazy online shopping deals! I don't know if you've heard of this, but I came across a free software tool that helps me get amazing deals. It's called My Shopping Genie. I just downloaded the it from www.geniewow.com.

I don't know if you ladies suffer from remote control numeritis, but I do at my house. I have to use 4 remotes to watch my favorite DVD! That's ridiculous. So, I asked my husband to find one universal remote. He found the Logitech Harmony 510 remote for $100.
